Lorax Sapling

As most of you have read the other day I was given the chance to head to the Lorax Green Carpet premiere here in Vancouver.  All of us, after leaving the wonderful movie, were given some wonderful goodies for coming out to enjoy it with the Seventh Generation that all of you got a chance to see yesterday.

So of course we had to get mummy-black-thumb to plant this poor little tree.  Of course I got my little man to help but I wanted to show you our little sapling's temporary new home!  I just hope he survives, with it being so cold outside I fear for its life.  I would bring it inside but my house is so warm and humid I fear it would be a worse decision to the cold it is probably used to.

So this is the home for our new, hopefully soon to be bigger, tree.  So simple and so sweet... hopefully this wont be a look into the last few days of its life.  I hope that I am not showing you photos of this poor little tree on its death bed.  Knowing my black thumb though that is exactly the kind of fate this poor plant will soon face.  A damned plant.  Maybe the lorax will visit me... that would be nice.

Man Candy Monday - Oscar's Edition

Since I was given the wonderful chance to actually watch the Oscar's, almost in full, I thought it would be only fitting to use it to my advantage and pull some of the best dressed men of the night!
Can't argue that these men were some of the best looking things on that red carpet.  Classy, so sexy; what more could you want in a man?!?!
Especially my Muppet loving friend here Jason Segel, this man is the cutest, sexiest thing since Kermit!  I can't get enough of him in all of his movies he is amazing and heartfelt-tingly sweet, and in How I met your Mother he is classically funny and still super sweet and romantic.  Though melancholy at times.
This glorious Frenchman was incredible!  Can't deny how amazing he looked and his expressive face is a tough one to beat.  I loved him in the Artist, he was incredible and it was a true sentiment to his character and skills.  I hope that all of you had a great chance to check out the wonderful stars on the red carpet last night!  It was one amazing night, even if J-Lo looked like a stripped hooker in her dress.  No I didn't like it I thought it looked awful and forced her to walk and move awkwardly.

Have a lovely Monday everyone and tomorrow tune in and see and update and our Lorax sapling!!

Unless...

This is a picture of my little man and I waiting for the movie The Lorax to begin.  As some of you may know from my tweets I was invited by the wonderful company "Seventh Generation," to join them on "the Green carpet."  We were so excited to be apart of this, my boys are no strangers to the tale of the Lorax.  I managed to find them the copy of the cartoon from the 70s when they were still very small so they've grown up with the Once-ler and Lorax.
Youngest's first bday party Lorax inspired!
Lorax inspired bday party (old place, Alex's first bday!)

I was so happy to hear that they were making this movie once again, it has such an amazing message for everyone, not just children.  I think some points of the new movie were a slap in the face on how we treat our planet and I was soo moved by it.  The Once-ler's song about how "he isn't so bad" was an incredible insight on how our world has begun to think, how advertising is misleading even!  I was shocked and amazed.  Not to mention the trees were just INCREDIBLE, they looked sooo fluffy and soft the animation was just incredible.  Every new movie is always filled with amazing digital surprises and to top it off it was in 3D too!

The most amazing part of this whole adventure was definitely the sponsors.  You can see they are a company that really wants to do good by the world with their products,  they were even nice enough to send us home with some goodies!!  All of which are re-usable or biodegradable, and we were the first group of people to be lucky enough to try it here in Canada!
our goodies!!
better view of our goodies *note* thing of laundry detergent + sapling!
Our sapling!
"Unless someone like you care a whole awful lot, nothing's going to get better; its not!"  It was our mission this afternoon to plant our little sapling, we put in a planter on our balcony so we can nurse it till it is bigger and ready for transport to a more permanent place!  With my black thumb though this poor thing is probably doomed to death, hopefully with the lorax's help it will do just fine.  Luckily my hubby can keep things alive... if I never touch them... and I already did that so its fate is in the lorax's hands that's for sure!

to learn more about the sponsors of this amazing event you can follow Seventh Generation on Twitter @seventhgen or via facebook!  Maybe they'll have an event near you!   Don't forget to make a change for the better, we're all creatures on this planet together and I think it is about time to stop being so selfish, greedy and uncaring.  Let's share people, cause isn't that what we're all trying to teach our kids?  A simple lesson I think we all failed to learn.

Hunger Games Love

For those of you who haven't been shown the amazing-ness of the Hunger Games you must get into it IMMEDIATELY!  It is incredible and I am completely obsessed with it, full fold.  I can't get enough and I am soo happy to be less than a month away from the movie as of YESTERDAY!  I can't even describe the amount that love it; I think I am going to plan on taking some archery in the spring/summer.  I hope to anyways that would be incredible!  If you haven't heard about it now you can a little bit:

Amazing, I can't wait man...I might even be getting some tickets to the premiere which would be soo amazing as I love love love love love the Hunger Games and I have loved Suzanne Collins since she wrote the series "Little Bear."  That both my boys know and love very much.  She is an incredible writer and I can't wait to read more... I just wished that I never had to leave Panem.

May the odds be ever in your favor!

Our week is coming to an end... right!?!

So the week is slowly coming to a close, Thursday is finally here and things are starting to look up.  Look up in our bank account and look up in our hearts!  We've had a tough go of it for a little while but everything is always worth waiting for right?  I am just happy right now.  We can start to see a light at the end of a jobless tunnel.  Waiting for hubby to find something that was appropriate for all of us has been a challenge.  He has gotten a lot of out of town work offers, but we were all unsure how we'd manage with him two weeks out and one week here.  Honestly I was just going to miss him too much, I can't even sleep without him, so I was unwilling to bite the bullet on the matter I think.  The kids are soo young too I don't want him committing to something that means he will be missing the kids in a significant way.  Lawrence is starting school in September and I would hate for him to not be around all the time for that, his soccer practices and the like.

On another note a girlfriend of mine has had a baby girl!  I can't and wont tell you who, torturing all of you seems like more fun I guess!  Anyways it is so nice to have a little girl in the family now, yes I consider all my friends to be a member of my family why??  Cause they are the best kind, the family I have chosen and the family that has chosen us to be apart of our lives.  My boys are so surrounded by love and TONS of it, that is just how I want it to be.

But back to this little girl.  I couldn't be more happy to have this little one in my family!  I am even pleased to announce that I am a Godmother now.  Isn't that nice??  I couldn't be more than happy to take on the responsibility.  I also can't wait for another excuse to hoard little girl things.  I had stopped doing it... but now.. I must re-build my stock!!!! EXCELLENT, so on my break today you can probably find me on craigslist hunting for deals and steals heehee!

Here's to getting some work done today and here is to a productive one!!

Missing my mom

As some of you know my mother is in heaven jabbering God's ear off as we type/read here.  The 17th, my youngest's birthday, is the anniversary of this day... her passing.  This weekend has been a hard one.  I miss her and last night it hit me pretty hard.  So today I thought I would take it easy on my blog and share some things about her, some old posts I have written about her and how i found out about her being so ill.  The tragic moments that led up to her death and my hatred for her father.

I am sad today...
I am not too interested in talking to anyone either.  With moving into my old buildings I have found this year especially hard; heart breaking.  I can look out into the courtyard at the old broken down pool and remember the day that I snuck out and into the pool to swim.  I was not old enough to swim without an adult and it was a poorly hatched plan in the end.  When I came back upstairs she was livid and screaming... man I wish I could hear her scream right now, that would be lovely.  But now her voice slowly fades in my head, only a whisper soon to never be remembered.  I can remember so many nights sitting in the front parking lot in the middle of the night cause dad set something on fire.  I can remember the night he set a sleeping bag on fire, I wake up and mom is in the bathroom with the bag in the tub, saying he fell asleep with his cigarette again.  I can remember the time he tried to get me to devour the entire contents of the medicine cabinet, me just nodding as he pin-balled his way back down the hallway.  I remember mom yelling at him.  I remember my sister with her comforter of her coming to comfort and hug me.  I miss my sister.  I miss my mom.  I remember cleaning out her apartment and I remember how many things I wish I had kept and not let get thrown out.  I wish I had everything, I wish I still had her smell.

I miss my mommy.  I want my mommy.

I have linked to a couple posts here please visit them.

Well the day is here, my youngest little man is finally two years old.  I can't even believe it lol; this little guy has barely grown in height too it is kinda awesome he is still so baby cute!  I am so happy to have had the chance to get to know him so well over that last two years and I look forward to many, many more.  I hope that he will continue to learn at this incredibly rapid pace cause it astounds me everyday.  I hope he will learn to stop screaming though... starting to get on my nerves, and he also hasn't been sleeping well which isn't a good thing.. it is a horrible thing.  But nonetheless HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LITTLE DUDE!

Featured Blogger - "Expect This"

I have no idea if any of you know this amazing woman but she is honestly hilarious.  In fact every post I have ever read from this woman has ALWAYS made me almost pee myself.  Her descriptions of the day to day are epically hilarious and always keep me tuning in for more.

One of my favorite posts she did was a recent New years related post of Toddlers vs. Drunks.  Cracked me right up I couldn't even stop, and re-reading it recently I laughed even more I think.  Maybe because it makes me instantly think of this hilarious interview with Daniel Radcliffe on Craig Ferguson a few nights ago:

Hilarious right??? Anyways

The wonder that is Expect This also did a post sympathetic to the plight of dear old Puss in Boots, if it not for her we would know nothing of his poor suffering!  So if you haven't had the chance to take a look at this amazing up coming blogger I highly suggest that you take the time now.  It will be well worth it... wait... go pee first, I would hate for you all to have an accident!

You can also find her on Twitter: @RogueToddler

St. Valentine's Day

I am sitting here trying to get a little bit of work done, doing some research and all that but I can't seem to get anything done and that is driving me nuts.  The kids are having some food behind me, but as always are loud as heck.  Hubby has decided to vacuum at the precise time I want to try and sneak in some extra work.  Needless to say I can't even concentrate enough to read let alone not make constant typos as I do this!!!!  I want to give you a little something different today, looking into the history of St. Valentine and what this day represents.

I can't concentrate. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..... is all I can hear; with a dash of loud conversation out of my eldest.
You know when I go to read something, every time I am interrupted I have to go back and read back to the place  I was then continue.  So you can imagine how many times I have read the birth date of St. Valentine.  April 16th.  The feast of St. Valentine was first established WAY back in 496, lord knows what year he was born!  His first representation was in 1493 so we're jumping all over the place here in dates.  Plus I can't concentrate.

Hubby is "wurring" right next to me here... Not gonna say anything cause then the cleaning would stop, if you interrupt his momentum its over.

Anyways St. Valentine, during in the rein of Claudius II (aka Claudius Gothicus), was arrested for marrying christian couples and aiding them in anyway as they were being persecuted at this particular point in history.  Claudius even started to like this guy until he started to clearly try and convert him at which point he was condemned to death.  They tried to beat him to death with clubs and stones and when that FAIL, yes it failed, they beheaded him outside of the, ummm " Flaminian Gate". Not a good day for him clearly.

Thankfully Geoffrey Chaucer came along and romanticized him and his story and thus was born a lovers holiday!

Have a very lovely Valentine's everyone!

Cause I am team Peeta all the way... and if you aren't... well clearly you haven't finished the trilogy.  Enjoy, and I hope that all of you are having a wonderful Monday!!

Only about 37 ish days till the MOVIE?!  Are you as thrilled as myself?!  You SHOULD BE!

May the odds be in your favor!

Our Valentine's Breakfast!

I have woken up to the best morning and I am now sitting next to my hubby as he makes me heart shaped pancakes.  That's right ladies heart freaking shaped pancakes!  Feel free to go green with envy, it's alright I wont blame ya.  Not to mention he emptied the sink of dishes, if you are in my house you know how rare it is to see the bottom of that sink, it is always a welcomed site.

The cutest part of my morning?  That would have to be the valentines that hubby and the boys made together for me!!  He apparently had to fix the printer prior to it, not to mention in the process i found out my printer can print on card stock and that is PIMP!  I need card stock and TONS of it, it would make kids crafts more sturdy and amazing!! Anyways I'll show you how cute my boys are!

Aren't those the cutest things ever!?!?!?  I know they're the sweetest boys and they're topping it off as we speak with those pancakes and that is AWESOME!  I also wanted to show you want I made for my hubby-kins last night, I haven't finished it I still have to do the inside etc... but i think you'll all get a kick out of it.  Especially if you are a sucker for a corny joke like myself lol.
HA! I am hilarious, I don't care who you are; that's funny right there.  It definitely get my....
Have a great Sunday everyone!

LMFAO last night!

If you read my post from yesterday you would know that I was heading out to the LMFAO concert last night.  It was GREAT despite my initial complaints... still mad at skyblu for not making face though.  It was a good show all in all and I have to admit that Redfoo really held his own for having to do everything himself.  He did a great job!
Our seats were so bad at first, three rows of people standing in front of us... clearly I am old cause I like to SIT at concerts.  I dunno... there were also WAY too many young kids there.  That shouldn't happen at a concert like this were it attracts ravers and in B.C. nothing but pot smokers.  Its a big hot box and we were sitting next to MULTIPLE under 10 yr old's.  I just don't think that is right.  I left my kids at home, they should have too.  I'll get off my soapbox now cause we moved super high up in our section and it was WAY better and I could actually see.  I liked exactly where we were enough to make a note never to buy different seats.  So here are some of our pics!

Good times had by all...

When you do a concert...

I am not going to lie here... I am not the happiest of campers.  No it is not because of my children, and no it is not because I haven't had enough caffeine, my problem are people not sticking to their commitments.  Mainly famous people.   Now I understand in this case there is a pretty hefty injury here to consider but I don't think that should equal a replacement.

If you have no idea what I'm referring to... since I am being cryptic and my hubby is walking around in the worst f-ing mood because of this.  It is the LMFAO concert.  Recently, in December, they cancelled their concert due to this injury.  Now it is back and instead of rescheduling again (which is what us Vancouver-ites would prefer over the current predicament) they are going on with the show with only half of the two man group.  Stupid right??  How can you have a performance with only half of the members?!?!  That is like going to see the spice girls and getting stuck with just scary and sporty spice... clearly not worth it.

Granted that currently I am not nearly as I would be if I only got Skyblu and not RedFoo cause he is my fav but still.  Not to mention that Skyblu performed recently at the Superbowl and I understand that he wasn't supposed to and did anyway and i understand he has three herniated disks in his back, but the people of Vancouver are not impressed.  Know what would be impressive??  If the guy showed up in a chair and came out anyways... that would make a bigger fan out of me.  If you can manage to dance around at the super bowl, you can sit in a chair on stage for your fans to show them you care about them and not Madonna who is a narcissistic bitch of a human.

So to LMFAO, you have sadly disappointed me, and Vancouver.  I suggest sticking to your commitments rather than finding someone else to do them for you.  Redfoo; thank you for coming out to see your fans, clearly you care enough to do so!
(left) sell-out SkyBlu (right) awesomely dedicated RedFoo
Note... i bet you'll see SkyBlu @ the after party lol!!

My friend is Top Chef!

I know most of you are familiar with Top Chef, America, correct??  Well recently Canada has gotten its own version of this show and I have to admit... not really a Top Chef person... until now that is.  One of my best friends from high school, and I am talking my BEST friend here, has been accepted as one of Top Chef Canada season 2 contestants!!!!!
from the left he is the one with glasses, "spiked" hair and wrist bands!
It is so amazing and this guy he deserves this.  I am sure each and everyone of these people, in their own way, as well deserve this.  But my friend here, he is incredible, always has been and probably always will be.  One of the best hearts I know out there in this world he would do anything for anyone if they needed it and he is hte type of person to give and give until it hurts.  He has had a hard one, but a life filled with love and that is why he is so special and why I know his incredible food will be as well.  I am so proud of him, and I couldn't be more proud than I was of him.  I can't wait to watch this season and watch him soar beyond all reason.
he is #6
Here's looking at you kid!! Good luck on your future dishes and may each of them bring you closer and closer to that prize!! All my love Jimmy, all my love!
