re-branding responsibility

You all know that I have been on these great Seventh Generation #GYR challenges, today I wanted to go over our last one here.  Re-branding responsibility with your little ones, you know making them aware of the things that need to be done in the house and give them increasingly bigger jobs to do as they grow.

In our house we're pretty good about this, for the most part the boys ALWAYS clean up their toys when they're done playing.  This may take a bit of constant drilling but it does get done, I don't help and BOTH boys are doing the job.  Just goes to show you are never too young to start helping out around the house.

For when you're introducing new responsibilities for your kids I think that the chore chart is always the best way to go.  It is nice and visual for the kids, they get little rewards you can determine, and everyone earns a sense of pride when they've completed it.  Best part is you can adjust them and the rewards as they age so that the interest is always there.  You can change the rewards to "access to the wifi password for X hours or for a full weekend", "money for a movie at the theater on the weekend" etc.. etc... There are lots of great options.  I have one place that I go to mainly cause of the great variety, I sometimes print them for daycare clients as well so the themes are great for me.  Each kid is different you know.

So in light of the new school year we'll be using the "cars" themed one, that I can type right into, and will be adding to his list of chores.  Not by much and he gets a sticker for always brushing his teeth so you can kinda get an idea of how easy I am making it lol.  Regardless I think we have done a good job completing this challenge! Let's check out some other great ideas for chore charts!
