10 Things I Know About Friday the 13th

As always this day is going to be filled with chaos... after all it is Friday the 13th, which means something is bound to go terribly, terribly wrong.  I can feel impending doom creeping up my spine, as it always does on this day.  I have this feeling that we had one of these days not too long ago... which I also don't like.  Perhaps the reason I assume something horrible will happen is cause after days and days of lovely skin burning sun a storm has rolled in.  I am unsure what to do with the kids today, I am thinking of going berry picking... what could happen right??

Should I risk it??  Is it worth the biscuit??  I have no idea.
Here is what I do know about Friday the 13th:

  1. 2Pac was "killed" on Friday the 13th, of course this never stopped him and others for releasing new albums.
  2. There are actually THREE Friday the 13th's in 2012 (see I told you we've had too many) and the craziest part is that they're all 13 weeks apart.  If you wonder why you have been having a bad start to the year this maybe why.  The next time that this happens will be 2015.
  3.  If the month starts on a Sunday it will have a Friday the 13th!
  4. The number 13 has a bad reputation cause it follows the number 12, which marks "completeness." For instance, there are 12 months in a year, 12 hours on a clock, 12 zodiacs, 12 gods of Olympus, 12 Apostles of Jesus etc.
  5. Alfred Hitchcock was actually born on Friday the 13th of August 1899.  Margaret Thatcher, Fidel Castro and Butch Cassidy were all also born on a Friday the 13th.
  6. Pagan's believe that the 13th is VERY lucky cause it is the number of full moons that are in a year!
  7. The number 13 has been an unlucky number since 1700 B.C. where the Babylonians actually struck it from their laws.
  8. If you eat in Paris and have a party of 13 you can actually HIRE a 14th guest (Quatorzieme) or order an additional plate of food.
  9. In the UK they usually skip the house number 13 by using 12 1/2 or 12A, if it is number 13 then the house is usually WAY cheaper!!
  10. Friday the 13th is also a day where you can fly for 5% cheaper than any other day, granted you are willing to risk it!!
That is all I know about Friday the 13th!! I hope that all of you have your lucky charms in hand and are keeping cool today!! I am waiting for these thunder storms to start while playing with the kids here is hoping there are no big boo boos today!!

Friday the 13th is my favorite day to people watch as everyone's all superstitious and paranoid.

You're actually statistically safer doing your normal routine on Friday the 13th because others are over cautious or simply stay home.

13 also happens to be my favorite number.

July 13th is my wedding anniversary, and it fell on a Friday this year. We had a good anniversary, though: paddleboarding on Lake Michigan, then a lobster dinner. No boo-boos.
