what was your fav board game as a kiddo??

I am so excited to announce that I will be doing some AMAZING reviews/giveaways this Christmas season!  I have my little hands on some GREAT games for family and friends!  I am a huge game junkie, I wish my friends were the same as I, although I haven't had any trouble managing to rope them all into a game or two lol!  I will give you a mini sneak peak of what is coming up this December just to get you all hot and bothered.
Family Talk 2 and Lumps!
I have to admit I have already peaked into family talk 2, loving the family conversation :D!
Koob, the viking game!
I am really stoked to give this one a shot, the wood is plain too so you could literally make it a family project and paint them if you wanted! I really love the look and idea of it, really thrilled to see it in action!

What are some of your favorite board games from when you were a kid???

New York, New York baby!

No I am not going to New York, though I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go that isn't the point here.  The real point here is that my old high school girlfriend and her mother came by to visit today and it was lovely. They were so sweet they even brought cake and some gifts, they always spoil me I love them!

I was so happy too cause my eldest really loved them, he was so taken by them and insisted upon teaching them how to play angry birds lol!

I also managed to pump out some amazing little goodies that of course i took more pictures of the food than i did of us hanging out but i was too busy talking to give a damn about pictures lol.  Should have though... I think her mom took a couple that both of us and my kids are in so I am super happy about that I have to admit it.  Here is our food from today!
my spinach dip with toasted garlic baguette

creamy stuffed mushrooms MMMmm they were soo good!
All in all I had a great time and I was so happy to see them i'll say it again and again, just warmed my heart completely.  I hope all of you are having a great weekend!

Planning the Baking

I have been thinking about Christmas here, about what it is that I will be making this year and I have decided to go nuts.  I will be making soo much, I hope anyways, I am hoping to get a couple people to pool in on the baking supplies so that we can make HUGE batches and have a ton of them for everyone!  I doubt that will happen so I will just get double of everything and keep it all to myself... secretly I wont be upset.  My waist line can deal with it AFTER Christmas.
[pic]
What will I be making this year??  A couple of things; number one being RUM BALLS!
[pic]
For the past few Christmas's I have been meaning to make these all on my own but I haven't managed to do it.  This is the year, the year I make chocolate rum balls, coconut rum balls and oreo rum balls.  That is right THREE kinds of rum balls!!! I am tipsy just thinking about it, i'll be needing lots of RUM!  I am determined to have an amazing Christmas this year and to stretch EVERY single penny to give my kidlets a wonderful month.  I have been busy planning a TON of activities this month to help us all stay in the spirit in a horribly obnoxious way, I am already browsing cheap ideas for decorating but thankfully there isn't too much that I can do without surfaces to put things on that youngest can't reach.  That will all probably start whenever it is we get the tree, just can't seem to decorate anything cause no matter what you do the whole house is naked without that darn tree.

I have already bought all my friends little gifts which is waaaay better than last year when we didn't have a dime to our name.  Literally not a dime... I have stockings stuffers for the kids coming already plus a bunch of things in our closets we can throw in, just silly little gifts left overs or things we haven't gotten around to opening yet etc...
[pic]
Only thing that is left to do is to buy baking supplies, stocking candies, and the boys two bigger gifts.  What those will be I have no idea at this point I will figure that out one when I go shopping and two when we know what the Grandparents have bought for them.  We don't really have time to go shopping unless it is year round or right before Christmas so I am hoping to do better this year.  I am even taking a Christmas vacation in my daycare!  I am so thrilled I have extended my Christmas and my free time to shop/bake.

What are all of you doing for Christmas??  How do you keep it all together??

warm and fuzzy fairy moments

I have figured out that I sit here too much.  I have thought that his blogging outlet of mine has kept me glued to the computer at a horrific rate.  So much so that I am now looking to start an additional outlet AWAY from the glaring lights of the computer screen.  I want to try watercolor painting.  I know right??  Very strange, my sister could even claim I am trampling on her medium... but that is impossible cause i am NOT terribly talented in the drawing sense of the whole thing.  I wasn't terrible and I'm sure it is just a matter of actually doing it again and practicing techniques and all that.  My sister on other hand is violently talented in the world of art.  In fact I want to take a few minutes here to brag about my sisters divine talents in the art world.  I will show you one of my favs:
by: Mary-anne Leslie

One of my fav murals she has painted, you know so you can see her incredible talent EVERYWHERE!!!
by: Mary-Anne Leslie
I also wanted to share one with you that she did one year for a Christmas card for me most lovely card EVER and it just brings so many warm fuzzy feelings of watching the winter fairies in fantasia when were were kidlets together.  I miss those days of my sister cuddles, silly games and my constant little sister torture... *sigh*
by: Mary-anne Leslie
do any of you paint/draw or have any form of artistic talent?!?!  If so your advice would be awesome!

Man Candy Monday - Colin Farrell

Today I was feeling Colin Farrell, I feel like sitting down and watching Tigerland... of course I can't exactly do that with a day care going on; lucky for me our little client was late this morning giving me the chance to fire this out earlier rather than later.  SWEET!  I can't complain about that on this slow snowy morning.  So to all of you out there, happy Man Candy Monday!
I hope that all of you have a GREAT monday today!

Sibu Beauty - Sea Buckthorn Balancing Facial Cleanser

The other day I was lucky enough to receive this product in the mail to review from Sibu Beauty.  I couldn't have been happier about it either as I am on a hunt to find a wash that i LOVE; i just might have gotten myself hooked on this for sure!

This wonderful face wash is made of Sea Buckthorn berries that actually manage to thrive in extremely harsh conditions at the top of the Himalayas in Tibet.  This violently determined berry is probably so hearty due to the fact that is saves itself with amazing protective nutrients such as: Omegas 3,6,7,9, carotenoids, flavonoids, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins.  I don't know about you but I love the idea of these berries having to work threw such harsh elements, as that is pretty equal to the amount of abuse my facial skin probably receives after makeup, rough facial cleansers, changing seasons, and my adult acme.  Needless to say I was VERY excited to get down and "dirty" with this Paraben-FREE, Cruelty-FREE, and Sulfate-FREE cleanser.

Me squirting the face-wash into my hand with its re-close-able pump, yes that is right you can close is again properly for easy travel :)!  I hate it when i get a cleanser without a re-close-able pump, i have to zip-loc it and am sooo paranoid the entire time that I will end up with a zip-loc filled with my cleanser as opposed to a bottle full of it.
This is what the facial cleanser looks like, a nice consistency with a soft grain to it, nothing nearly as rough on my skin as the apricot shell my current face wash has.  It lathers up decently and it does leave your skin so soft it is a amazing, not to mention it has an incredibly uplifting scent to it that really wakes you up!
Me enjoying the lather of my face wash... not that you can really see that in this pic... i tried to get you a better picture i really did lol!!!
In addition to testing it myself I also threw it at anyone that walked into my door demanding they try this new product I got, I get a little more excited about these types of things than I probably should.  I think it is only cause I am hooked on this face wash harder than I got hooked on boogie wipes!  My hubby informed me that he loved how soft it made his face but he really likes the abusive nature of our apricot scrub with the shell fragiments.  So the only thing he wanted to improve was the pain factor and so i think that can be ignored because those really hard shells actually damage your skin, thus my hunt for a new face wash... clearly he will need more convincing... OR i just get to have my own face wash lol!!  My gf adored it and used it twice just so she could smell it again, she kept saying how she loved its "citrus smells."

Sibu Beauty has come up with a GREAT line of products and they are all for a good cause too, and THAT is important in a company IMO.  Their "sea buckthorn is sourced through fair trade agreements with local harvesters in Tibet."  Giving back is so important and it is great to see a company with some very high values and moral ground.  Thank you Sibu for giving me the opportunity and thank you for being such an inspirational company!

The snow has fallen...

So as I have mentioned before it has started snowing over here.  The first time it was "slush" falling... but now??  Full on snow... started last night, I even managed to get a couple pictures in between loads of laundry lol!

snow once it started to stick.

snow before we went off to bed last night.
Then of course this morning the snow has already started to disappear but the weather report is promising us more soon enough... little yucky for the kids right now.
melting but the kids are excited anyways!
Hope that all of you are having a great day too!! Wishing you all some seasonal cheer!!

one snow flake at a time...

No don't rub your eyes you read that right, as we speak I am looking as one snow flake after another is falling from the sky, imbedding my mind with the impending doom of winter.  I am not a winter girl, I have no winter clothes, I am not equipped for this. Of course you would think that, since I live up here in Canada (possibly in an igloo), that winter gear would be in ample and affordable supply.  But it isn't.  Instead it costs an arm and a leg and then your soul... between my hubby and I we only have enough arms, legs and souls to provide gear for the kidlets, thus we suffer.  Not only that but all the winter gear makes me look fing huge.  I am not very big... until i see pictures of myself etc... but after trying to attempt winter shopping after Eldest was born I literally left the store crying.  I looked like the evil Marshmallow man in Ghostbusters... angry face and all.
So to all of you out there... I hope your winter isn't starting nearly this early.  I pray you all have your winter gear cause it is starting early this year and I bet it is gonna hit hard.  Last year we had one day with snow... this year is gonna be a completely different situation I am thinking.  Good luck everyone and don't forget to VOTE!!!! I am not even on the list anymore and the more votes the more likely I'll squeak back in i think I'm 27th right now!

New Hair Routine

I have begun to notice something... my hair is transforming slowly into a wirey mess.  I must change this... FAST.  So I have begun a new beauty regiment to prevent this as long as possible.  In trying to find out what the best things were for me to get the best results I came across this curly haired revolution online.  An online community of all curly hairs!!! AMAZING! So in the discovery of www.naturallycurly.com I have now found a new hope for me hair and new ideas on how to make it the lovely hair I remember it being... not this dry scratchy stuff no one likes lol.

I have also discovered that all the stuff mom told me about how to care for my hair wasn't a lie... I should have listened, just as she complained about not listening to her mother.  I can't find her modelling book either... ticks me right off.

So in starting I will no longer be shampooing my hair EVERYDAY.  This my friends is a curly haired no no, you should only shampoo four times a week but ALWAYS condition.  Then you must deep condition once a week, especially in the winter.  So this is what I am going to start with, I will try my best and see what happens.  I can't wait to get some online $$ too so that I can get some coconut oil.  My hair was so beautiful when i lived with my mom and she would put it in my hair every night and comb it.  Stuff works wonders makes your hair incredibly soft and shiny.  No idea why i stopped this to be honest... kids... must have been those kids lol.  Now that I look at the bottom of my empty coffee cup... i know it was them.  I remember when tea every morning was enough... I couldn't dream of getting by on just that now.

With all of this being said I have to get the kids ready to go out to the library on this frosty sunny day.  Yeah that is right ppl Vancouver, the cali of Canada, is getting cold already, snow is sprinkling the tops of the mountains and frost is coating the roofs like snow.  I hope that means more than one snow day this year!

Please take the time to vote, must swim back onto that list!

My New Hair Extensions

Okay so I have been having the laziest weekend, just staying in the house cleaning and snuggling I have been loving it lol.  Anyways I am hear to talk about those hair extensions that my wonderful girlfriend put in for me.  I got em off ebay and was struggling to find a way to put them in on my own with success.  SSOOOOO she came over the other night to have some dinner and i showed em to her and next thing I know I am putting them in properly!  I was stoked, honestly never had stuff like this when i was a girl, well i'm sure they did but i was in west van being raised by a single father.  My "girly-ness" was deeply lacking lol... not to mention out in West Van all that stuff is greatly delayed by meddling stay at home moms... you know what I am now lol!! So how about I get to it and show you the photos I took yesterday after dolling myself up of course lol!

can you see em?? I put in a blue and a white one on either side, like little surprises in your hair!

you can see em better here.

I am really loving the blue these days it seems lol, gonna be a blue christmas!
Aren't they just awesome?? Jealous??  HA!! I can't wait to get more and have them all the time lol, even if i'm an embarrassing mother lol; I do what I want lol!

VOTE for moi!

oh my goodness!

I have to admit I am hungover today.  Pretty bad... been a couple pots of coffee and a couple showers later and I still fell rough at this point.  I had my gf over for dinner last night and we got a three rib, prime rib roast and it was AMAZING!  soo good I only took a picture of our roast.

Doesn't that look amazing?!?!? It tasted even better i tell ya what! I also got some GREAT pics of myself and my gf.

And my gf there, who is studying to be a hair stylist, she put in my hair extensions for me, and properly too actually IN my hair rather than attached with silicone circles which made me soooo happy cause i was having a hard time with them, think im going to buy her a bunch for Christmas but sssshhhh don't tell her!

Hope you're all having a GREAT weekend and I promise i'll take pics of the hair extensions she put in when I am in a picturing taking form... which, let me tell you, isn't now.  PLEASE VOTE!!!

Tomorrow marks, one the beginning of my long weekend, and of course, more importantly, Remembrance day.  As a way to pay tribute I wanted to take this moment to share a video, to commemorate veterans and soldiers currently overseas.

Lest we forget

Almost there, almost there!

It is almost the end of the day here and I have the kidlets sitting next to and behind me working on their worksheets... not so much youngest of course he is just terrorizing the paper with crayons at the moment.  I am so thankful that this week is a short one and that this weekend is a long one.  I can't believe I can say this, but thank goodness for Remembrance Day.  I need a break, I think today was a little extra rough with the fact that I am just pooped today.  Hubby was snoring all night and I couldn't manage to get any UN-interrupted sleep and ended up on the couch for part of the night cause I just couldn't take it anymore.  While everyone was napping i took it upon myself to nap as well... you know instead of cleaning the dishes or kitchen kinda thing.  My break time i slept and i woke up even more tired.  I think it was a mutual feeling to, as all the kids just refused to get up and so i just let them sleep while i set up their worksheet time etc...
I want to sleep like a teenager again... BADLY!

So here i am sitting here listening the the sweet giggles of little brats as they colour up a frenzy of chaos.  Nothing is better than watching them like this, having conversations together that make no sense to anyone but them.  Creating pictures that only they can decipher.  They are pretty amazing and I am so happy to have them, they're such lucky boys who get to play together everyday.  They love it and I couldn't ask for anything more... other than a large portion of energy that I could so desperately use.  Anyone???  Anyone spare some energy?? .... I didn't think so lol.

Three days

I have randomly taken three days off apparently, i apologize for that.  I just wasn't up for posting something about anything lol!  I am excited, however, to announce that I soon will be doing a GREAT board game giveaway in the near future and that is exciting!  I love boards games and I can't wait to get the two to review, our family just loves them.  Well the hubby and I do on Sunday nights as well listen to his old radio shows.  Yeah i know, so young, yet so old all at once lol!

As for our weekend it was nice, not terribly relaxing but it was nice.  I still have yet to pick up a package that I HAVE to do today, i just MUST.  I just can't seem to bring myself to walk three kids down there and back, then by the end of the day I don't feel like walking down there cause i'm just pooped and making dinner, then i'm full with dinner etc.. I just need to suck it up i think today and just get it done.  It isn't raining so i should just bounce out the door with everyone all bundled up and get 'er done so to speak.

I wish I could get someone else to do it... but i can't... bastards... I have a feeling that the package is my Golden Snitch's I ordered for a gf and myself.  You know in light of Harry Potter ending, at least I hope it is ending i would hate for them to ruin the series by making additional movies who's story line wasn't written by J.K. Rowling.  I think they would butcher it as they have so many others.

Also I have something exciting to announce.  I am officially part of a coupon trading group.  A bunch of us moms are going to get together, hopefully monthly, to trade coupons and to give out the ones we don't use.  We all apparently get a ton that we don't use and we are soo going to take advantage of that as well as get the kids together, gossip and munch on some nibbles! Do any of you have the same kind of thing going with your mom friends?? I know there are a lot of couponers out there!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!! Please take the time to VOTE for me!

Nothing

Today I have nothing really to write about.  I know there are things that I should write about like my girls in my blogging buddy group or something but I just don't have the time today.  I should also be cleaning my house... technically why I shouldn't have time to sit here and talk to all of you but here we are.   I could write about our comparisons lesson plan today but from the title i'm sure you get the idea.  I thought it went a lot better today, me making a fool of myself with exaggerated gestures of: bigger or smaller, taller or shorter etc... as well as physical examples courtesy of the toy box crew.  Point is we got thru it alive and with a basic grasp of the difference, i think they started giving me wrong answers on purpose cause the little ones kept giggling at me lol.

What other drivel could I talk about??  How much I desperately want you to vote for me??  How I would do anything for you if only you could take two seconds to vote, yes this is me begging and pleading with all of you.  I REALLY want those votes and I really want to be higher on that list and I know there are a bunch of you that love me enough to take the time.  PLEASE do.

Lastly I have skype.  I have no idea how to use it or w/e but I have it and I would love to have you on my list if you want!  My id thingy is eschelle.westwood  feel free to add me and maybe we can skype... granted I have no kids running around and I have my face on lol!! I would hate to scare the village children lol!

Other than that have a super happy Friday and, to some of you, a GREAT payday!!

Our lesson plan and a lost remote

I have spent all morning searching for a TV remote... the remote for the tv in my kids room.  In fact I have torn my house apart trying to find this damn thing... and I can't. Not for my life, I have emptied the toy box, couches, under bed, closets it is no where.  It is the only way to fix the tv too... it is all fuzzy with the snow channel and my Eldest is very angry and making me VERY aware of it.  He can't play Mario Cart Wii you see, it is his favorite thing to do.  He always looses this stupid remote and it drives me nuts, so I've looked my best and I can't find it.  No reason he should be so upset either, it is only a game that he shouldn't really even be playing as much as he does to be perfectly honest.  I think this is a blessing in disguise though I bet now he will insist upon using the computer but I don't care.  With our little Scotsman with us there is no reason for him to need to play on it.  He should be interacting with the other kids and enjoying our lesson plans.  Today he isn't into it.  We've been taking the time today to talk about "community helpers" who they are and what they do.  Policemen, Firemen, Teachers etc... he doesn't care, keeps walking away even though i'm trying to do this for him since this is technically his "preschooling."  He loved yesterdays lesson "all about me" talking about bathtime and why it is important, learning about why soap is important and even touching on and doing a little experiment to help explain the water cycle.  Basically a cotton ball and some water is all you need to get the point accross in a hands on kind of way.  But today he is upset over a remote.  He is upset that I wont let him play with playdough anymore cause we're trying to move on to other things etc.. etc..  Everything is a battle.

How do you negotiate with a four year old??  Do any of you daycare moms have some good suggestions??!!

p.s. don't forget to VOTE for me HERE!  No bloggy hop today, I am planning on finding the time at naptime to hop around to all your blogs :)!  Leave a link if you have something particularly special to share with me.

Watery Wednesday!

I have decided to go ahead and, once again, join another great sounding hop, in the hopes that I can wrangle in some more votes perhaps ( you know if you are feeling generous or amazing.)  As well as make some new friends in bigger pools so to speak.  Rather than looking in the tide pool for some new bloggies I decided to jump into the sky and head out to sea to find me some more kindred spirits.  This blog hop jumped out at me as being a really great idea something I thought I could be creative with.  I found this lovely photograph of my eldest a couple summers ago, that I thought would be just perfect.
This photo reminds me of how much I love seeing my little man enjoying the water.  As a child of an medal winning swimmer it is really important for me.  Seeing this pure joy he has towards the water, no matter how ice cold it may be over here in Vancouver.  Looking at him for some reason makes me even think of this old song I used to love from this Christian camp I used to go to, no I don't go to church or anything I just happen to like it.. so sue me.

In my heart you are the River,
Purify, wash away,
cleanse me of my stubborn rebellion,
build me day by day...

yeah that is that I can even remember the actions to it.. well the sign language that goes with it that we all learned, there is an awesome dance and everything and kind of group Irish jig.  A picture really does say a thousand words, doesn't it?

Does this photo trigger any of your fond memories???

Again if you have a second I would really love it if you could pass along a quick vote to me HERE.   To all of you new visitors welcome and thank you so much for taking the time to come by and visit, I am hoping to get to all your blogs by this evening!!

Happy November!

Magical Mouse Schoolhouse
Today I am participating in a great looking hop and I would like to say welcome to all the new visitors that have taken time out of their day to check me out here at Mumfection.  I would like to take this time to ask you to help me out with something that I have been trying to improve my ranking on.  If you could take the time to quickly press the "VOTE" button HERE. I would be very grateful and I very much look forward to getting to know all of you and reading your blogs.

Happy November to everyone, I hope that you have high hopes for this month and are looking forward to preparing for Christmas.  I know, I know Halloween was only yesterday, let us remember:

he thinks this will pass for Halloween?... don't think so little dude!
We had a great time but we need to bust a move for our next bank account draining holiday.  I can't believe how much money was spent this month with all our activities, I see our November being rather tedious a dull as well save for the wallet draining Christmas's my hubby likes to continue.  Our Christmas's are rather luxurious sometimes, though my wonderful bloggies helped me out soo much one year when we had nothing, again I will always keep you in my hearts and prayers for the kindness you gave to my family and I.  I have already started creating my Christmas list, I am easy, the kids are a little more labor intensive and hubby is impossible.  Half the time he gets his list out a week before the holiday which drives me insane.  This year I really really want some indoor photography equipment such as lighting and backgrounds.  I would love a stand for my reflector as that would make taking photos with it alone a lot easier.  I seem to have become reliant on an assistant that I can't have and my son is too short to help me lol!!

I know for all my U.S. readers you must all be focusing on Thanksgiving right now but thankfully I am in Canada and I got that over with in October. PHEW.  So I have a bit longer to start focusing on the big picture.  Christmas.

On another note I have figured out which school my Eldest will be going to come next September.  I am also terribly overwhelmed with bittersweet sadness at the mere thought of it.  Not to mention he will be entered into full day kindergarten all at once.  I have been teaching him preschool curriculum in our daycare setting here at home with the prices of preschool we thought killing two birds with one stone was the best solution for our little low income family.  I can only hope that it wont be a HUGE shock to him when he does start going.  If the strong start programs didn't involve me having to enroll him I could still pop in there whenever I have a random day off just so he can get used to the look of the school environment and schedule.  With daycare out of my home though that is no longer a possibility, especially when I can't just randomly pop in when I do get the off chance.

Well I have a ton of work to do and not enough break time to do it in here so I must get back to cleaning up and preparing for our "after nap time" adventures/activities.  Tough times being a stay at home daycare providing mother.  I hope that all of you took the time to vote for me on the top 25 list I really could use the votes and self esteem boost if you have the two seconds.  The link is in the beginning of the post of up in the top left side of the blog.  Happy November!
